Bosch Dishwasher E24 Error: What It Means & How to Fix It
An E24 (sometimes shown as E-24) on a Bosch dishwasher is a drainage error — the dishwasher has detected that it can't pump water out. It's one of the more common Bosch faults, and often a fix you can start on yourself.
What causes an E24
- A clogged filter at the bottom of the tub — the number-one cause.
- A kinked, blocked, or improperly installed drain hose.
- A blockage where the drain hose meets the sink trap or garburator.
- A drain hose looped too high, or missing a high loop / air gap.
- A failing drain pump or a blocked pump impeller.
What to check first
Pull out the bottom rack, remove and rinse the filter, and clear any food or glass debris from the sump. Then check the drain hose for kinks and make sure the under-sink connection isn't clogged — especially if you recently installed a new garburator and left the knockout plug in place.
If the filter and hose are clear and E24 keeps returning, the drain pump or impeller is the likely fault and needs servicing.
