LG Front-Load Washer PCB Repair
The PCB — the printed circuit board, or main control board — coordinates everything the washer does. On LG front-loaders, a board fault can mimic motor, drain, or sensor problems, so a careful diagnosis matters before any part is replaced.
Some LG boards can be repaired at the component level; others are replaced as a unit. Which path fits depends on the fault.
Symptoms that point to the board
- The display is dead or scrambled with power confirmed at the outlet.
- The same error code returns immediately after every reset, with no matching mechanical fault.
- The washer powers on but no cycle will start, and the lid/door lock and water supply both check out.
- Burning smell or visible scorching near the board — stop using it and have it checked.
Repair or replace the board
LG's direct-drive front-loaders pair a main PCB with a separate display board. Pinning the fault to one of them — versus the motor or a sensor feeding bad data — is the whole job, and it needs a meter and the model's service data.
Where a single relay or component on the board has failed, board-level repair can be the economical route; widespread damage means replacing the board outright.
