Washer LE Error Code (LG & Samsung)
An LE code on an LG washer (and the similar fault on some Samsung models) is a motor-related error — the control board has detected that the drum motor is locked, overloaded, or not turning as expected.
What triggers an LE error
- An overloaded drum that the motor can't turn — the most common and easiest fix.
- A locked rotor or a fault in the Hall sensor that tracks motor position.
- A wiring or connector problem between the board and motor.
- A worn motor or, on direct-drive models, a rotor bolt that has loosened.
What to try, and when to call
Start by powering the washer off, removing about half the load, and restarting — an overload clears the code in many cases. If the LE returns on a normal or empty load, the motor, rotor, or sensor needs checking with a meter, which is a technician's job.
Rather have a pro handle it?
Our technicians repair this across Toronto and the GTA — same-day in many cases, with clear pricing and a warranty on the work.
Frequently Asked Questions
Does an LE code mean the motor is dead?+
Not necessarily. It often just means the drum couldn't turn — frequently from overloading. A real motor or sensor failure needs testing to confirm.
