Jenn-Air Ice Maker Not Working

When a Jenn-Air ice maker stops, it's one of three things: no water reaching it, a freezer that's too warm to freeze, or a failed ice maker assembly. The first two you can check yourself.

Jenn-Air refrigerators share components with the Whirlpool family, so the diagnosis follows the same path as those units.

Water and temperature checks

  • Confirm the ice maker is switched on and the feeler arm or sensor isn't blocked or stuck up.
  • Check the water line behind the fridge for kinks and make sure the supply valve is fully open.
  • Replace the water filter if it's overdue — a clogged filter starves the ice maker of flow.
  • Verify the freezer holds −18 °C; a freezer running warm won't complete a harvest cycle.

When the module or inlet valve fails

If water reaches the fridge but the ice maker stays empty, the water inlet valve or the ice maker module itself is the likely fault — both are testable with a meter.

A fill tube frozen solid is a classic sign the inlet valve is leaking by and refreezing between cycles, which keeps the maker from filling.
