LG Refrigerator Air Filter Replacement
Many LG refrigerators, including ThinQ models, have a Fresh Air filter that cuts odours inside the fridge. It's a separate part from the water filter, and it's one of the easiest pieces of fridge maintenance you can do yourself.
Here's where it is, how to swap it, and how often it needs doing.
How to replace it
- Find the round air-filter housing on the rear interior wall of the fridge compartment.
- Press the tab or twist the cover to open it, depending on your model.
- Lift out the old filter and drop in the new one, then close the cover until it clicks.
- If your model tracks filter life, reset the air-filter indicator from the display.
How often and which part
LG recommends replacing the Fresh Air filter roughly every six months. It uses a different cartridge than the water filter, so check your model number when ordering — the two are not interchangeable.
If odours linger after a fresh filter, the cause is usually old food or a spill rather than the filter, so give the interior a clean too.
